Terms of Service

1. What LumoTutor is
LumoTutor is an AI tutor for students. You paste a lecture, upload course material or homework, and an AI model explains, draws and asks you questions about it. By creating an account you agree to these terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use LumoTutor. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
2. Academic honesty
LumoTutor is built to help you learn, not to complete graded work for you. When you mark an upload as a quiz or exam, Lumo will not give you final answers. You are responsible for following your school's academic integrity policy. Submitting AI-generated work as your own may violate that policy, and that is between you and your institution.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload: lecture links, syllabi, homework, notes and anything you write on the whiteboard. You grant us permission to store and process it for the purpose of running the service for you — reading a PDF to build your course map, sending a video moment to the AI model to answer your question, and remembering what you've learned.
Only upload material you have the right to upload. Do not upload copyrighted textbooks or exams you are not allowed to share, and do not upload other people's personal information.
4. AI output can be wrong
Explanations, diagrams and answers are generated by an AI model. They can be incorrect, incomplete or misleading, even when they sound confident. Check anything that matters against your course materials and your instructor. LumoTutor is a study aid, not a substitute for your course, and nothing here is professional advice.
5. Plans, billing and refunds
Free accounts have monthly and daily limits shown on the pricing page. Paid plans (Plus and Pro) bill monthly or yearly through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; access continues to the end of the period you already paid for.
If something goes wrong or the product isn't what you expected, email tedevh8@gmail.com within 14 days of a charge and we'll refund it. We don't make you argue about it.
Prices may change. We'll tell you before a change affects a plan you're already on.
6. Fair use
You agree not to:
- share an account with other people, or resell access
- create multiple accounts to get around plan limits or referral rewards
- use automated tools to send large volumes of requests
- use LumoTutor to harass anyone, or to generate content that is illegal or harmful
- try to extract the underlying prompts, break the service, or access other users' data
We may suspend accounts that do these things, and we'll tell you why.
7. Availability
We run on third-party infrastructure and AI providers, and they sometimes fail. The service is provided “as is” without warranties. We don't promise it will always be available or that answers will always be accurate.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages, including grades, missed deadlines or lost work.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may close accounts that violate these terms.
10. Changes and contact
If we change these terms materially, we'll notify you by email or in the app. Questions go to tedevh8@gmail.com.
